Darryl Smith, 70, of Pottsboro passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2014 in Dallas.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Johnson-Moore Pottsboro Chapel with Brother Patrick Brookins officiating and Bob Jackson closing in prayer. A family visitation will be held one hour prior to service time on Saturday.
Darryl was born on June 30, 1943 in Sherman to Durwood and Virgie Randall Smith. He graduated from Sherman High School and then attended North Texas State University where he received a BS in Education. Darryl retired from J.C. Penney as Director of Business Services and was a member of Saint John’s Episcopal Church, American Legion Post 231 and served in the US Army National Guard. He was known as “Gator Man”. He and Cindy Smith were married on July 2, 1992 in Sherman.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Smith of Pottsboro; son, Rick Smith and his wife, Amy of Kansas City, Kansas; daughter, Renny Pedersen and her husband, Brian of Chicago, Illinois; stepsons, Greg Dills and his wife, Jill of Durant, Oklahoma and Todd Dills and his wife, Sundy of Lucas, Texas; stepdaughter, Lori Wilson of Durant, Oklahoma; four grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
