”Coach” Robert “Bob” Stevens, 88, died Monday, October 1, 2012 at Highport Marina on Lake Texoma in Pottsboro.
Celebration of Life Services will be 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Tanglewood Resort.
Bob was born on November 11, 1923 in Sidney, Indiana, the son of Floyd and Alys Kilby Stevens.
He graduated from Sidney High School in Indiana, attended University of Michigan and graduated from Michigan State University. He was the head men’s basketball coach at the University of South Carolina and the University of Oklahoma. During his career, he was known for employing attacking, fast break offensive tactics.
During World War II and the Korean War, Bob served his country in the United States Marine Corps, retiring as a Colonel.
He is survived by his son, Robert Stevens, Jr. of Costa Mesa, California; and daughter, Nancy Barcellus of Norman, Oklahoma.
