Van E. Scott, 91, passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Homestead of Sherman.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Johnson-Moore Pottsboro Chapel.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 6, 2012 at Georgetown Baptist Church. Reverend Bobby Hancock will officiate. Burial will follow at Georgetown Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jim Davis, Scott Galyon, Lawrence Kennon, Jim Lyons, Jim Taylor and Tommy Densmore. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Pschal and Joe Watstoskie.
Van was born on May 26, 1921 in Detroit, Texas, the son of Arch and Mittie Stevens Scott. He graduated from Detroit High School and Paris Junior College. He married Verda Ann Tudor on February 28, 1942 in Paris, Texas. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II in the medical corps, serving in Guam and Guadalcanal. He worked as a chemical plant worker in Dumas and worked for the Dallas Transit Authority as a bus driver from 1953 until 1981 when he retired. He and Ann had a love of traveling and belonged to the Good Sam Club and Holiday Ramblers traveling clubs, they loved to ride motorcycles, play any kind of game and square dance. He was a member of Georgetown Baptist Church and the American Legion Post #231.
Memorials may be made to Heart to Heart Home Hospice, 600 E. Taylor, Suite 3005, Sherman, TX 75090.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Ann Scott of Sherman; and son, Tommy Scott and his wife, Sharon of Pottsboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and daughter-in-law, Linda Scott.
