Martha Jane O’Mary, affectionately known as Martee, peacefully passed away on January 8, 2024, in Pottsboro, Texas. Born on May 29, 1940, in Denison, Texas, she was the cherished daughter of Alfred Doil and Edna Bryan (Short) Fulmer.
Martee is survived by her four devoted children: Calvin Allison and wife Susan of Carrabelle, Florida; Karla Kaye Broyles of Pottsboro, Texas; B.J. O’Mary of Dallas, Texas; and Brandee O’Mary of Pottsboro, Texas. She leaves behind a legacy through her eight grandchildren: Andy Allison and wife Amanda, Michael Allison and wife Sammi, Cody Allison and wife Alix, Laci Molina and husband Tony, Stefanee Broyles, Montana Montgomery, Mayson Montgomery, and Mykal Montgomery. Additionally, she is remembered by her 14 Great Grandchildren, sister Judy Francis, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her loving parents and five siblings, Beth, Alfred Jr., James (Ace), Joy, and Mattie.
Martee was a woman of remarkable determination and passion. Her love for meticulous lawn care was unparalleled, as she meticulously maintained an acre of property by push mowing until the age of 81, despite her family’s eventual gift of a riding mower. She found solace in fishing and cherished moments spent by the lake. Her fondness for Dr. Pepper and reading books were lifelong pleasures. Martee dedicated herself to educating young minds in Pottsboro ISD until she was 79 years old. She held a deep affection for her Doberman, named Jax, and took pride in her Ford Explorer with a Cobra engine.
Her grandchildren and family held a special place in her heart, evident through her selfless nature and unwavering generosity. Martee’s adventurous spirit was an inspiration to those around her.
A remembrance gathering will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the Johnson-Moore Pottsboro Chapel, 511 Hwy 120, Pottsboro, Texas 75076. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in Martee’s honor to the St. Jude Foundation. A private family celebration of her remarkable life will take place later in the spring.
Martee’s indelible spirit, generosity, and love for her family will forever be cherished and remembered by those whose lives she touched. Her legacy of kindness and resilience will continue to inspire and resonate within the hearts of many. May she rest in eternal peace.
