Ronnie R. Brown passed away on February 16, 2024, in McKinney, Texas, at the age of 81. He was born to Clifton and Dorothy Marie Smith Brown on December 1, 1942, in Corsicana, Texas.
After graduating from high school, Ronnie enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served honorably for four years, receiving an honorable discharge alongside commendations including a Good Conduct Medal and a Rifle Expert Badge.
Ronnie pursued higher education from 1972 to 1975 at Abilene Christian University, where he graduated with a BS Degree in Criminal Justice. He joined the Dallas Police Force in 1973, serving until his retirement in 1998. During his tenure, Ronnie was part of the SWAT team, contributed to security at the 1985 Republican Convention, and played a role in the security efforts for the 1994 World Cup.
Following his retirement from the Dallas Police Department, Ronnie briefly served as a Grayson County bailiff before being elected as a constable for Grayson County Precinct 8, a position he held from 1999 until 2000. Sheriff Keith Gary then appointed him as the Deputy Chief of Grayson County in 2000, where he served with dedication until his retirement in 2014. Ronnie continued to contribute to his community by working part-time as an Investigator at Grayson College, a role he cherished and held onto as long as possible. He maintained his status as a licensed peace officer and qualified marksman until 2021.
Ronnie married Sydney in 1968 in Oklahoma. Together, they raised their daughter, Raylene, and their son, Jason, taking great pride in providing for their family.
A beloved grandfather and great-grandfather, Ronnie deeply loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Sydney Brown of Pottsboro, Texas; son, Jason Brown and his wife, Shanna, of Pottsboro, Texas; grandchildren, Siobhan and Schuylar; great-grandchildren, Chandler and Charlie; sister, Brenda Kemp of McKinney, Texas; and numerous other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Raylene Brown, and his parents, Clifton and Dorothy Marie Brown.
Ronnie’s legacy of service, dedication, and love for his family will be cherished by all who knew him.
