Charles Bennet Ward, age 88, of Denison, Texas passed away at his home with his loving wife on Wednesday, Jul 10, 2024. Born in Chrisfield, Maryland on December 17, 1936, he was the son of the late Charles and Edna Ward.
Charles was a proud United States Marine, who served in Okinawa and ended his service in Quantico, Virginia. Charles lived in New Castle, Delaware and worked for Amoco for many years. He moved to Bridgeville, Delaware in 1981, when he opened a restaurant, “All Seasons Seafood and Market” in Laurel, Delaware. He then moved to Delmar, Maryland in 1990 and lived there until he moved to Denison, Texas in 1997. Charles took a maintenance job in Denison at the local school district in 1998 until he officially retired in 2015. He was dearly loved by both the staff and students at the schools.
Charles was married to Alice Louise Unterreiner, and they would have celebrated their 44th anniversary on August 12. Charles was a true waterman and loved to boat, fish and crab. He was devoted to his wife, Alice, who cared for him deeply.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Edna (Bennett) Ward, and his brother William Ward. Charles is survived by his wife, Alice (Unterreiner) Ward of Denison, Texas; daughter, Pamela C. Ward of Newark, Delaware; sons Bryan Reynolds of Bridgeville, Delaware, Brad Reynolds (Stacy) of Sherman, Texas, and Frank Ward of Bear, Delaware; daughter Sandra Ward of New Castle, Delaware; and his siblings Janet (Ward) Velasquez of Georgia, and Donna (Ward) Rutger of New Jersey. He is also survived by many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements will be private, and a celebration of life will be announced to be held in Bonham, Texas, VA.
