Robert Allen Steelsmith

Robert Allen Steelsmith, born on July 23, 1939, in San Leandro, California, passed away on December 7, 2024, at the age of 85. He was the beloved son of Robert and Dorothy Steelsmith, both of whom preceded him in death, as did his son Robert Arthur Steelsmith.
Robert’s life was marked by a deep sense of service and dedication. He served honorably in the United States Navy, where he worked as a Torpedoman’s Mate, a position that saw him stationed on a submarine tender and involved in the Polaris missile program. After retiring from the Navy, Robert continued to share his technical skills as a mechanic, a profession he took great pride in.
On February 14, 1959, Robert married the love of his life, Brenda. Together, they raised a loving family, including their five children: daughter Barbara Robertson, daughter Betty Johnson and husband Greg, son Brian Steelsmith and wife Mariana, son Bradley Steelsmith and wife Alice and Robert Arthur Steelsmith who preceded him. He was also a proud grandfather to 15 grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Robert had many passions, from traveling and exploring new places to tending to his garden and indulging in his love of reading. He lived a life full of love, adventure, and hard work, always taking joy in the simple pleasures of life and sharing them with his family.
He is survived by his children and grandchildren, who will forever cherish his memory, as well as a wide circle of friends and extended family.
