Del Scott Farler, 59, went home to be with the Lord, on Tuesday, January 25, 2022.
Mr. Farler, born in Sulphur Springs, Texas, graduated from Sulphur Springs High School and went on to earn his Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Science in Guidance and Counseling from Texas A&M University-Commerce. After graduating, he served as a college recruiter for LE Fletcher Technical Community College in Houma, Louisiana and a Director of Youth Facilities in West Palm Beach, Florida. After returning to Texas, Scott earned a Doctorate in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce and served as a principal, Assistant Superintendent, and Director of Curriculum. He met the love of his life while in the doctoral program, and he and Teresa were married in 2008. Together they shared a love of family, travel, nature, and their pets.
He retired from a career in education in 2020 and moved to Sherman, Texas. He combined his love for learning and all things in nature by earning his AgriLife Master Gardener certification from Texas A&M University and Texas A&M AgriLife Master Naturalist certification (Texas A&M University) in one year. He was an active member of the Bluestem Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalist organization and the Grayson County Master Gardeners where he served as the Vice President.
Mr. Farler was a member of St. Mary’s Parish in Sherman, Texas, where he served as a Sacristan and a Communion Minister. He was inducted into the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, Southwestern USA Lieutenancy, in October 2016 and deepened his commitment to the Church. He read and studied the Bible daily and lived his faith as a true Christian. Scott never met a stranger and always took time to listen and laugh with everyone. He was always one to seek adventure and new opportunities. At the age of 18, he earned his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying every weekend. Whether he was scuba diving off the coast of Florida or skiing in Vermont, he made the most of every minute. Scott had a special way with animals and his pets, which were many, knew his kind and gentle nature. Scott genuinely cared for his family and the community in which he served. He was a generous, loving and devoted husband, son, brother and uncle.
Mr. Farler was preceded in death by his father, Billy Lee Farler; grandparents, Rudy and Lou Lee LeDeen, Ardell Flanagan, and Ora Lee and Willie Thomas Farler.
