Michael Carl Nix, 78, passed away on November 16, 2021 in Grapevine, TX, surrounded by the love of his life, his son, and his grandson. Mike was born on January 25, 1943, in Denison, TX, to Marshall Foche Nix and Estelle Bean Nix.
Mike was born and raised in Denison, graduating from Denison High School in 1961. He went on to further his education at the University of Texas in Austin, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Finance. Mike went on to serve in the US Air Force during in the Vietnam War era. He then began a career in finance, working for several companies throughout the years. In his later years, he owned his own transportation and logistics company that allowed him to meet many people and travel to many places. If you were a friend of Mike’s, you knew that he was always a proud Denison Yellow Jacket, an avid Texas Longhorn fan, proud member of the UT Alumni Association Texas-Exes, and honored to have served his country. He was also active in the Optimist Club and Toastmasters, as well as local government, even running for Mayor of Irving at one time.
In 2000, Mike married the love of his life, Debbie. In her, he found his soul mate. They enjoyed traveling together, especially to his favorite places, Colorado and Montana. The two gave each other the best years of their lives.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents and oldest son, Darren Christopher Nix.
He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Nix of Bedford; children, Zak Nix and wife, Stacie of Henderson, TX., Staci O’Briant and husband, Keith of Keller, TX., Erin Morgan and husband, Dr. Clark Morgan of Dallas, TX., Lindy Dickson and husband, Gavin of Haslet, TX., James Cannon and wife, Lorraine of Grand Prairie, TX.; twelve grandchildren: Darren Davis Nix, Richard Hight, Clara Hight, Ashley O’Briant, Andrew Morgan, Corrine Morgan, Claire Morgan, Elijah Dickson, Jonathan Dickson, Hannah De Dickson, Joshua Cannon and Timothy Cannon.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Johnson-Moore Funeral Home, 631 W. Woodard St., Denison, TX at 10:00AM and at the First United Methodist Church of Irving, 211 W. 3rd St., Irving, TX at 3:00 PM the same day.
