Virgil “Butch” Chester Combs Jr., passed away on February 10, 2024, in Tyler, Texas, at the age of 64.
Born on August 24, 1959, to Virgil and Lorna (Riggle) Combs, Butch grew up in a household filled with love and laughter. Following in his father’s footsteps, he embarked on a career as a truck driver, a profession that became his lifelong pursuit. Butch also explored other trades, finding fulfillment in painting and insulation work, demonstrating his strong work ethic and versatile skills.
Beyond his work, Butch found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly his love for fishing.
Butch’s legacy of love and devotion extends to his family, whom he cherished above all else. He is survived by his six siblings: David Combs and wife Sharon of Wills Point, Texas; Donald Combs of Pottsboro, Texas; Chris Combs of Tyler, Texas; Steve Combs of Josephine, Texas; Teresa Dean and husband Joseph of Texas; and Matthew Combs and wife Brenda of Payne, Ohio. His memory will forever be held dear by his siblings, each carrying a piece of his spirit within their hearts.
Butch is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Debra, his parents, Virgil and Lorna Combs, and his siblings, Kent Richard Combs and Jewell Coffey. Although he has departed from this world, his presence will continue to be felt through the cherished memories and the love he shared with those who knew him.
A remembrance gathering will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m. with a service beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Johnson-Moore Pottsboro Chapel, located at 511 FM 120, Pottsboro, TX 75076. Friends, family, and acquaintances are invited to join together in honoring Butch’s life and sharing stories that celebrate his enduring legacy of love, laughter, and kindness.
As we bid farewell to a beloved brother, uncle, and friend, we take comfort in knowing that Butch’s spirit will live on through the memories he created and the love he shared. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the gentle embrace of the ones who have gone before him.
