David Joseph Combs, born on October 29, 1953, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away on August 17, 2024, at the age of 70. He was the beloved son of Virgil and Lorna (Riggle) Combs.
David served his country with honor in the United States Army from 1971 to 1974. Following his military service, he pursued a career in the sheet metal industry, graduating from sheet metal school in 1979. For 32 years, he worked as a dedicated and skilled sheet metal journeyman within the union, contributing his expertise to the trade.
On December 16, 1977, David married the love of his life, Sharon Sanders, in Mesquite, Texas. Their enduring love and partnership spanned nearly 47 years.
David had a deep passion for music, particularly Texas Blues. He was not only a talented guitarist but also took great pride in building guitars. His love for music was a constant source of joy in his life. In addition to his musical talents, David was an avid NASCAR enthusiast and enjoyed the sport of archery.
David is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon Combs of Wills Point, Texas; his daughter, Sara Combs, and her husband, Trevor Hawes, of Midland, Texas; and his siblings, Donald Combs of Pottsboro, Texas, Steven Combs of Josephine, Texas, Chris Combs of Tyler, Texas, Teresa Dean and her husband, Joseph, of Texas, and Matthew Combs and his wife, Brenda, of Payne, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Lorna Combs, as well as his siblings, Kent Richard Combs, Jewell Coffey, and Virgil “Butch” Combs.
A memorial graveside service with military honors will be held on 1:00 PM, Monday, August 26, 2024, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211.

David’s life was marked by his dedication to his family, his craft, and his passions. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
