June 12, 1935 - February 19, 2025

Dr. Dellalene Marie Baker, 89, of Denison, Texas, passed away on February 19, 2025, at the hospital in Denison. She was born on June 12, 1935, in Sherman, Texas, to Delphord Baker and Alma Ridenour.

Dellalene received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Oklahoma State University in 1963, launching a distinguished career in veterinary medicine. She practiced in a mixed animal clinic in Ponca City, Oklahoma, for seven years before returning to Denison to establish the Grayson Equine Clinic. She maintained a large animal practice for the next 28 years, serving the community with dedication and care. Dellalene was honored as an Honor Roll member of the American Veterinary Medical Association for her outstanding contributions to the field.

Outside of her professional life, Dellalene had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, enjoying activities like camping, fishing, and sports. She cherished spending time with her friends and family, always bringing joy and warmth to those around her.

Dellalene is survived by her spouse, Pat McCormish of Denison, Texas; her sister, Linda Parenteau and husband Rene of Denison; and two nephews, Justin Parenteau and wife Brandi of Weatherford, Texas, and Stephen Parenteau and wife Amber of Denison, Texas.

The family suggests that memorials be made to the Denison Animal Welfare Group (DAWG) in Dellalene’s honor. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Doc as most of us called her was a great friend and a very smart and wonderful person to be around! She provided me my very first job in life working at Grayson Equine Clinic when I was a. Senior at Denison High School and we remained friends all these years. She will be missed! My heart goes out to the spouse and family!

The passings of Miss Del is an unbearable loss for our family. Never have we had so much fun, laughter and joy than playing Dominos with her and Pat on their annual vacation over the years.. There is a big hole in our hearts. We will always remember Del for her kindness, generosity, and undeniable spirit. She was a true inspiration and touched so many people. Sending our deepest sympathies to all during this difficult time..

Such a rich, full, inspiring life it is hard to be sad, but this world is much emptier without her, and won’t see the likes of her again. She will be sorely missed by many, including especially me. It was an honour to know her and count myself among her friends.

Dr Baker was a great vet. Her business on Hiway 69 was about 2 miles from my house and I used to ride my horse over there for treatment. I used her for years. Plus at one time we bought a Subaru car from her for my oldest daughter! She will be missed by many!
