Alton V. Jacobs, 98, died at his home in Denison on Friday, January 19, 2018.
Alton was born in Hagerman, Texas on October 29, 1919, the son of Jesse and Lela Farmer Jacobs.
He and Clariabel Massie were married in Denison on December 24, 1940. She preceded him in death in 2014. He served his country during World War II in the United States Army. Serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign, 141 1st ordinance battalion. He was discharged January 19, 1946 and he received the WWII Victory Medal. Before he retired he worked for Kraft, Safeway and Pillsbury for 33 years as a capper line processor. Alton was a faithful member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 22, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Fairview Cemetery Chapel with Reverend Jim Branscum officiating. Family hour will be held one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his daughters, Marjorie Ellen Atterbury of Bonham and Laurel Nicewander and her husband, Dick of Denison; 8 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Clairabel; sons, Jesse Floyd Jacobs, Larry Taylor Jacobs and Andrew V. Jacobs; brother, Calvin Jacobs; sisters, Justine Jacobs Meek and Cornelia Jacobs McAlister; grandsons, Gary Glenn Shields and Ryan Golembewski.
Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson-Moore Funeral Home.

    I just heard about Alton. I am so sorry to hear about this. He was one of the sweetest men I knew. He was also my cousin on his mothers side, the Farmers through my granddaddy Barney Harris. I grew up with all of you at Mt.Pleasant. I loved Clarabelle so much too, all of you. Ann Shields Pierson
