Barbara Madeline Thorton Bates, 82, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016 in Denison, Texas. Services will be at 1:00 PM Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Chapel On The Hill Mausoleum at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Father Don Perschall will be officiating.
Barbara was born August 31, 1934 to Francis and Hazel (Johnson) Thorton in New York State. She married Cecil Ray Bates on February 1, 1952 in New York, New York. Barbara was a homemaker and together she and her husband raised five children. Mr. Bates died in 2005. She was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
Barbara is survived by her sons, Raymond Bates and wife Jill of Lewisville, TX, David Bates of the Dallas, TX Metroplex; daughters, Karen Allison and husband Gary of the Dallas, TX Metroplex and Darlene Boehmisch of Weatherford, OK; grandchildren, Randy Bates, Rob Allison, Courtney Allison, Jon Allison, Melanine Allison, Daniel Boehmisch, Luke Boehmisch, Ashley Winland, Kevin Winland, Crista Droz, Junior Droz, Kevin Forsythe, Kayla Forsythe and Matthew Forsythe; great-grandchildren, Graham Winland, Hope Bates, Bailey Droz and Rhett Droz.
Mrs. Bates was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Hazel Bates, Husband, Cecil and daughter Barbara Forsythe.
