I have many fond memories of Merlynn and Bill when we were all in our early twenties getting together in Dallas where we lived. Cooking out, laughing, and even dancing.lol He was working at Coca Cola I believe and Harold was working.at Coors Beer. Lynn and I would spend the day together and take Cindy out for walks and drives. lol

As kids, we called him “Daddy Bull!” He laughed and piled us in the back of his pickup and took us for ice cream at Sabine Vally or Ashburns. When Cindy acted up, which was most of the time, lol, he would tell her was gonna spank her when we got home. She would say, “oh, you’ll forget”. I thought for sure she was in deep trouble! Bill wiould ALWAYS forget. Lol

I know everyone’s parents are special to them, but God blessed us with awesome ones. There will never be a more loving and caring Daddy than ours. Even in his last year with his dementia, he was so respectful to everyone who cared for him, saying yes ma’am, and thank you, sir. He was the best Daddy in the world and we will miss him immensely. Rest in Peace, Angel.

I loved him so much and I was able to be with him the last 15 minutes of his life with my arms around him. I reminded him that it was Carol’s birthday and he died right after that. I think he was waiting for me to get there. I will never ever ever love anyone like I loved Bill. He gave me almost 50 years of sweet memories and six children. Life will never be the same without him. Julia Merlynn.

Daddy lived a life of kindness and love and made an impact on everyone he met. He was a giver, not a taker, never negative but always full of joy and laughter and he spread that everywhere he went. I will always be eternally grateful he was my dad and that he gave me a firm and solid foundation in living for God and in giving my life to Christ. Because of him I learned to have faith and now I know I will see him in Heaven. Thank you Daddy. I love you and I will see you soon.

We were wild kids. Always had cousins and friends running in and out. Mom loved it, but occasionally she would say “When your Daddy gets home he’s gonna spank you!” Well, Daddy would come home and show up with his belt and barely tap us with it. No pain at all. He just couldn’t do it. Of course we cried, because we had been bad, as usual…lol…but we were more hurt because we knew Daddy didn’t want to spank us. But we put on a good show. We cried for the “show” and acted all “punished.” We had been “spanked,” but then we threw ourselves all over Daddy, hugging him, so happy he was home. He loved us so much, didn’t see us as often as he wanted. But he worked so hard to provide for 6 kids. I never wanted for anything. We had a loving home, food on the table, clothes, new shoes, prom dresses, trips to Six Flags every summer. Due to his job, we were kind of a single parent family, but when Daddy was home, we were complete. He gave us such joy just being with him. He taught me to fish. He took us out in the boat. He always had hugs to spare…6 kids of them. I love you, Daddy. I love you.

Condolences and heart-felt sympathy to the entire family, Bill was a good man and an excellent example of what a provider is and how he takes care of his family doing whatever it takes to care for your family no matter the cost. He was an amazing father-in-law and we all looked up to him and cherished Bill greatly. Bill was awesome grandfather who really loved all of his grandchildren so very much, those kid’s were very fortunate indeed to have a papaw like Bill. Bill was was one in a million for sure, I worked with him, and he was a great friend to me, and then I eventually became his son-in-law. I’ll never forget him, and my only regret is that I never spent enough time with him over these past year’s, life just got in the way unfortunately. But I encourage all those here today paying their final respects to Bill to remember that it takes a concerted effort to stay close and in-touch to those you love and care for so that you may avoid having regrets like mine. Bill I’ll miss you so very much, and I’ll always remember you and the great moments that we shared, I always enjoyed our phone conversations because they meant the world to me. Love you Bill and your humor, wisdom, advice and common sense views on so many subjects. Your love and devotion to family and friend’s was inspirational and moving, I proudly and fondly learned so much from you, I was fortunate enough to be both to you Bill, thank you for all that you taught me. I hope one day to see you again and gaze upon your charming smile and greet you with open arm’s brother. Farwell my friend, you’ll always be in my thoughts and in my heart. In loving memory to my friend and mentor…. Gary Griffin
