Bob Gattis

February 19, 1950 - December 11, 2022

On Sunday, Dec 11, Robert M. Gattis, a beloved husband, dad, and grandpa passed away at age seventy-two. Born to T.C. and Mary Gattis on February 19, 1950, in Sherman, TX, Bob graduated from Pottsboro High School in 1968 and Texas Tech University in 1972. Also, in ’72 he married his high-school sweetheart and love of his life Donna M. Gattis (Lawrence). In 1975, Bob and Donna started their own Custom Harvesting business and grew it successfully for 19 years before moving on to other adventures. After a short stint farming the prairies of Northwest Kanas, Bob became a “company man” in 1997 and spent 20 years working for CNHi delighting dealers and customers by solving problems on the high-tech farming machines he had such a strong passion for.

In retirement, Bob worked hand in hand with Donna, his partner in crime, running a small cow/calf operation, chasing their 5 grandkids around, and supporting his Church family wherever possible. Bob loved staying active on his ranch, taking pride in his family, his operation, his equipment and the success he and Donna could drive together. Bob leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Donna, sons Jason (wife Angela) of Pottsboro and Joshua (wife Kelli) of Sanger, and grandchildren Tucker, Creighton, Maddox, Wilson, and Mason. In addition, Bob is survived by 6 siblings; Mary Jo, Ruth, David, T.C., James, Margaret, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bob is preceded in death by his father T.C., mother Mary, and brother Homer.

The funeral will be held on Friday, Dec 16, 2022 at Hagerman Baptist Church at 10:30am; 4619 Refuge Rd., Sherman, TX, 75092. The family will have a visitation, starting at 10:00 A.M., prior to the service. Following the funeral service, a procession will make its way to Hagerman Cemetery, 4552 Hagerman Rd., Pottsboro, TX, for a committal service. Donations in lieu of flowers may be directed to the Hagerman Baptist Church Children’s Ministry.

Sincere condolences to all those close to Bob. While I have heard many times that one measure of a person, especially once they are absent from our lives, is how much that person was loved and held in high esteem by not only family and friends, but by nearly everyone. Bob, is certainly one of those rare, decent, humorous, and beloved members of his family and the various communities of which he was a wonderful part. I graduated at Pottsboro a couple of years behind Bob and Donna. I don’t recall any two people for whom myself and others, I am sure, had respect for and held in such high regard. Bob is missed, and all should gather round Donna and family to celebrate Bob’s life and to comfort her. Bob Gattis, we are all better for having known you. David Blankenship Fayetteville, AR
