Don Copeland, 76, died at his residence in Pottsboro on Wednesday, December 23, 2015.
Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Johnson-Moore Pottsboro Chapel. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 10:30 a.m. Reverend Neal Alexander will officiate. Burial will be in Georgetown Cemetery. Serving as his pallbearers will be his grandsons, Justin Copeland, Clay Copeland, Cody Copeland, Cole Copeland, Gene Roberts and Josh Bell.
Don was born in Tuttle, Oklahoma on October 12, 1939, the son of William C. and Edith Ann Hardesty Copeland. He graduated from Central State University with his BA in business. Don and Martha Bell Griffin were married on September 2, 1960 in Edmond, Oklahoma. He was the owner and operator of Preston Trash Service for more than 20 years. Don loved the outdoors, was of the Methodist faith and a member of the Pottsboro Elks Lodge.
Don is survived by his children, Mike Copeland and his wife, Angela; Jim Copeland and his wife, Shellee; Debi Atkins and her husband, Steve; Michelle Bell and her husband, Steve. They are all of Pottsboro. Brothers, Bill Copeland and Jerry Rigsby both of Tuttle, Oklahoma; sister, Carol Ann Thomas of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Martha and brother, Russell Rigsby.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to The American Cancer Society, 8900 Carpenter Frwy, Dallas, TX 75247.
