I met Donna in 1994 when I began working for Albertsons Pharmacy. She trained me to be a pharmacy technician and became my best co-employee and friend. I worked side-by-side with here for many years, and even after I transferred to a new Albertsons location, we still regularly saw each other. She loved all children, but she had a special place in the hearts of my own three children, Jeff, Jordan, and Alec. She babysat my kids on several occasions and she always reminded me that she was their “bestest” babysitter! I agreed. She first babysat when my youngest, Alec, was just a baby. He is now 26 years old and in medical school! Donna was always there for my daughter, Jordan, to support her gymnastics competitions, and she always told me how she just “loved her Jeff!” She was like a second mother to them. I cannot express how kindhearted and bold this woman was. She made a forever impact on our lives as well as so many who loved her as their pharmacy tech! I used to be jealous when I’d say to a customer at the counter, “Hi, can I help you?” And the customer would just want Donna to help them! She was loved by all. Donna also would never forget to call me on my birthday and leave a sweet voice message if I didn’t answer. December 3 was the last voice message she left for me and I called her back the next day and chatted. Once, she accidentally called my cell while she was in a drive-thru line placing an order. For years after that, we had a running joke and she’d call me and when I’d answer, she’d start placing an order for a burger and fries or something similar! She was always funny. My prayers go out to her whole family. We are in shock at the loss and will forever keep Donna in our hearts.

I will always remember Donna as like a second mother growing up. On so many occasions, she would baby sit my siblings and I. Donna was so loving to us, and so helpful to my mother when times got busy. I can’t think of a single time she wasn’t beaming with happiness. In fact, that quality of her’s was exactly how I would describe her to someone, just always smiling and happy, always putting others first. She was always there as I grew up, and I am so blessed that I was able to have her attend my wedding and be there to celebrate in some of the biggest moments of my life. I hope that I can live my life with the happiness and love for others that Donna so amazingly embodied. She will be so missed, and my prayers are with her family and friends.

Donna was one of the sweetest, most caring, people I’ve ever met. I grew up visiting the pharmacy where she and my mother worked. I don’t know that I ever saw her without a smile on her face. As her and my mother grew closer, she would often babysit my siblings and I. Although she may partially be responsible for my Dr. Pepper addiction, I’ll never forget the shining example she was to us. I can only hope to strive to live a life full of half as many people who loved Donna and considered her a great friend. Rest in peace Donna, you deserve all the peace and love you’ll find in heaven as you reunite with your beloved husband! We’ll miss you!

In Memory of one of my very best friends Donna Hughes. I met Donna 31 years ago when I transferred to Albertsons as a pharmacist in Plano Texas. Donna was the pharmacy technician at that store. We soon became close friends and worked together for many years. Donna fell in love with my daughter Hunter when she was born and soon began baby sitting for us when Hunter was only a couple of months old. Donna became a big part of our family and attended all of Hunters events growing up including birthday parties, dance recitals and cheerleading events. Donna began watching Hunter cheer on the sidelines at FFL games then that soon turned into competitive cheer at Express Cheer then Cheer Athletics ” Panthers” and ” Wildcats”. Donna loved watching Hunter and her team compete at NCA every year! Donna attended Hunters kindergarten graduation and high school graduation and we will miss her this May at Hunters college graduation …but we know she will be there in spirit. Again I cant say enough about how much Donna meant to our family and to my brothers family as well . Donna you were sweet, kind, loyal, and had a heart of GOLD! We will miss you dearly and we hope that you are now at peace from this nasty Covid virus. We love you ! Deenie, Steve and Hunter

It was truly a blessing to have had Donna be apart of my life. The impact she had on me growing up is beyond meaningful, and I will forever cherish every memory we made together. She was there for me every step of the way growing up and never missed a single important milestone in my life. She was the kindest most selfless loving person I’ve ever met, and she truly deserved the world. Donna Hughes thank you for everything, you are loved and missed so much!!
