Dwight Edwin "Ed" Cook

Ed Cook, 69, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016. He was born January 24, 1947 in Sherman, TX to William Dwight Cook and Mary Maxine Still. He graduated from Garland High School in 1964 and on March 30, 1967, enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served in the Vietnam War. In 1989, Ed retired with the rank of Tech Sergeant after 22 years of service and was a member of the NCO Club. He was also a member of the American Legion and VFW of Pottsboro. On September 21, 1974, he married Elsa Cushing in Wichita, KS.
Services will be held Friday, December 23, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the Johnson-Moore Pottsboro Chapel. Reverend Bobby Hancock will officiate. Pallbearers are Larry Whitehead, Bob Kirkland, Reagan Hamilton, Riley Hamilton, Jimmy Britt, Jim Watt, Tim Oyster and Charlie Kirkpatrick.
Ed is survived by his wife, Elsa Cook of Pottsboro; daughter Renee and husband Ronald Hamilton and grandsons Reagan and Riley Hamilton of Wharton, TX; mother Mary Maxine Still and husband Jay of Pottsboro; sisters Pamela Cook Weakley of Mount Pleasant, TX and Marky Cook of Spring, TX. He was preceded in death by his father, William Dwight Cook.

    I had the pleasure to meet Ed at the Tanglewood Golf Course almost a year ago. He was always fun to be around. He Made others around him feel welcomed. Great guy. I never new he was sick. Going to miss he’s big laugh. God Bless him and his family.
