Edward Glen Webb

Edward Glen Webb

December 3, 1942 - July 9, 2024

Edward Glen Webb, 81, passed away July 9, 2024, in his home in Denison, Texas.

Glen was born on December 3, 1942 in Kentucky.  He grew up in Chester, Pennsylvania with eight siblings.

He graduated from a Mennonite high school in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.  Upon graduation he joined the United States Air Force. He was stationed abroad in Africa and Germany before landing at Perrin Air Force base in Denison, Texas.

It was in Denison that Glen met the love of his life, Saundra Moore Webb. Married for 61 years, Glen and Saundra had four children.

Glen came from very humble beginnings but he always had a drive to be a great husband, father and provider.

After his military service, Glen embarked on an aviation career with Braniff Airlines. He started out as a mechanic and worked his way up to director of maintenance. When the airline bankrupted in the ’80s, Glen remained in the aviation industry, and in 2002, with his friend and fellow aviation colleague, Derek Gossett, opened Centurion AMS, an aircraft maintenance company. A company he continued to operate until his death.

Glen is a well respected and admired aviation professional. Beyond his career, Glen was a devoted family man. The love he had for his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren is undeniable. His greatest joy was spending precious moments with his family.

Glen inspired his children to put their best effort in every endeavor.

Glen and Saundra were avid boaters and spent most weekends on their boat, Finally.  What brought them the most joy was taking their family out on the water.

To his wife and children, Glen was their rock – their hero.

Glen is survived by his wife Saundra and three children: Rachael, Linda and Gary and his wife, Lisa, and his grandchilren: John and Chris Sotello, and their wives Ashley and Rebecca, respectively, and Shawn Manon, and Spencer Webb, as well as many great grandchildren. Glen is preceded in death by his parents  Raymond and Grace Webb, and his daughter Jeanie.

Glen will be dearly missed by all those blessed to have known him.

Please have any flowers ordered sent to Johnson-Moore Funeral Home, 631 W. Woodard St. Denison, Texas 75020.

    Dear Saundra and Family,

Karen and I were deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Glen, our beloved “G-Money.” Our hearts goes out to you and the entire family during this incredibly difficult time. Glen’s kindness, laughter, and vibrant spirit touched us very much and all who knew him, and his absence leaves a void that cannot be filled.

Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. We hope you find comfort in the loving memories you shared with Glen and in the strength of your amazing family.

Glen was not just a friend to Karen and I, we cherished him much more than just a friend as we do the entire family and we grieve his loss alongside you.

May you find peace and solace in this time of sorrow.

With deepest sympathy all of our love,

    Todd and Karen

Thank you so much for these beautiful words. It means so much to us to know how much dad impacted the lives of others. He truly was one of a kind.

Glen was my older brother, who was more like a father to me than a brother. He was my protector, my tormenter, and conspirator. The day he joined the Airforce, I was heartbroken. He was just a young kid and I thought I would never see him again. But I did, and with his return, he brought home his newly wedded wife, Sonnie. Of course, he only stayed for a very short time because, he was relocating to Texas where Sonnie lived. Now sixty some years later as we share the grief of his loss, we feel the emptiness in our hearts, the pain of it, but we also know that being a part of him and his extraordinary life has and will always remain a blessing.

I have so many childhood memories of Glen and his family. Their home was my second home for many years in both Irving (just a short walk across the alley behind our house) and Grapevine (I’ve always believed we moved there because the Webb’s moved there first). From 1st to 6th grade, I think I spent as much time with Glen and Saundra as I did with my own parents. I have fond memories of music playing in their home, backyard grilling, and, of course, the swimming pool. My hair was practically white, and my skin was brown from summer days in their pool. Glen always treated me just like I was one of his kids. Whether it was putting up with the crazy imaginative adventure games Rachel and I would get up to, footing the bill to feed me along with the rest of his kids while out for the day, or a weekend family trip to visit Saundra’s kin up in Denison. There were countless pizzas, sonic burgers, and, of course, great home-cooked meals over the years. I’m so glad I got to see Glen again a few years ago after a long period of being out of touch. He, Saundra, and Rachel hosted me at their home in Denison. It was great to catch up and share our memories. So much love.
