Eldwin “Dwight” Grimes, 87, retired TXDOT draftsman and farmer, returned to his heavenly home on May 11, 2016 after a valiant battle with a long illness. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Hagerman Baptist Church in Pottsboro, TX. Family night will be Friday, May 13, 2016, at Johnson-Moore Pottsboro Chapel from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Dwight was born in Pilot Point, TX on December 20, 1928 to the late L.A. and Luna Grimes of Pottsboro, TX, a farmer/rancher and a 1st grade school teacher respectively. He married his best friend and true love for 67 years, Dorothy (Brown) Grimes, on September 11, 1948 in Sherman, TX. Dwight helped raise his three children with patience, discipline, humility and the respect of hard work. From the very beginning, he dedicated his children to God and provided a Godly example throughout his life.
Dwight is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Denison; his daughters Linda Hart and her husband, Ron of Denison and Karen Bond and her husband, Bert of Sherman; his son Rick Grimes and his wife, Nancy of Sherman; his grandchildren Chris Grimes, Jessica Gissler, Will Carter, Robert Carter, Casey Hart, Laci Hudson, Bo Bond, Bree Brown and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, L.A. Grimes Jr.
Dwight will be buried at the Georgetown Cemetery in Pottsboro, TX immediately following the 10:00 a.m. service at Hagerman Baptist Church. Reverend Neal Alexander will officiate the service.
Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson-Moore Funeral Home.
