Irene L. Bowman, 86, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Beacon Hill in Denison.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Thursday at Johnson-Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2014 at Johnson-Moore Funeral Home. Reverend Bill Brown will officiate and burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Serving as her pallbearers will be Jason Bowman, Chris Vaughn, Brandon Mitchell, Brad Vaughn, Tony Kennon and Mike Bumpass.
Irene was born in Arkansas to Rinaldo and Effie May Couch Thacker on August 7, 1927. She was 7th of nine children.
She married J.C. Bowman, who was of Lawton, OK. on March 19, 1943 in Altus, OK.. They moved to Salem, Oregon and had two children Carl and Eileen. They then moved to Denison in 1970. Mr. Bowman died on August 28, 1987 . They had been married for 44 years. Mrs..Bowman was a homemaker, of the Methodist faith and a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Post 2773. She enjoyed spending time with family, friends & mostly her great-grandkids. She loved playing games, going to Choctaw and playing Bingo. She met Lester Oetker and spent time traveling all over the world with him until his death in 2002.
She is survived by her son, Carl Bowman and his wife, Rena of Pottsboro; granddaughter, Chanda Hopkins of Denison; grandson, Jason Bowman and his wife, Bonnie of Sherman and great-grandchildren, Jazmyne, Christian and Blake. She is also survived by many, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; all of her siblings; daughter, Eileen; son-in-law, David and special friend and companion, Lester Oetker.
Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson-Moore Funeral Home.
