Jackie Durwin Burkham, born on May 20, 1951, in Denison, Texas, to J.D. and Lillian Marie (Short) Burkham, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2024. Jackie was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
In 1985, Jackie married the love of his life, Annette Hamons, in Pottsboro, Texas. They built a life together filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Throughout his career, Jackie worked with dedication and pride at Safeway, Oscar Meyer, J&J, and Tyson. Outside of work, he found joy in fishing, watching sports, tending to his yard, and spending time with horses.
Jackie’s legacy lives on through his loving wife of 38 years, Annette Burkham of Howe, Texas; his three children, Monica Burkham of Calera, OK, Tiffany Smith and husband H.D. of Colbert, OK, and Jaclyn Low and husband Austin of Fort Worth, Texas; his grandchildren, Chance Partain and wife Lainie of Durant, OK, Madison Partain of Calera, OK, Carson Partain of Calera, OK, Taylor Hicks and husband Aaron of Kenefic, Oklahoma, and Bodie Smith of Colbert, OK; and his great-grandchild, Adler Hicks. He is also survived by his three siblings, Peggy Deets and husband John of Pottsboro, Texas, Thomas Burkham and wife Kathi of Pottsboro, Texas, and Brian Burkham and wife Susan of Denison, Texas, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Jackie was preceded in death by his parents, J.D. and Lillian Burkham.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the team at Baylor Scott and White, Dr. Isaac, Ashley DeBerry, and Accent Home Health for their compassionate care of Jackie.
The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Johnson-Moore Pottsboro Chapel, 511 FM 120, Pottsboro, Texas 75076.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Jackie.
Jackie will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his memory will forever remain in our hearts.
