James "Jake" Stanley

March 14, 1940 - February 11, 2022

Pottsboro, Texas
James S Jegelewicz (Jake) rode out of this life Friday evening February 11, 2022 after a long battle with COPD, pneumonia and the flu. He leaves his wife, Karen Dyslin Jegelewicz happy for the 21- year trip! Still telling his stories are his children, Teresa Jegelewicz Mayfield-Meyer and husband, Jim and Jeff Jegelewicz and wife, Renee. Karen’s children, Rachel Lueke and husband, Todd, Jason Vetterick and wife, Julie, and Deidre Williams and husband, Scott joined his family in 2001. He loved all of his 10 grandchildren and was looking forward to his first great grandchild next month.
Jake was born in Westfield, Massachusetts Thursday, March 14, 1940. He proudly retired a Sergeant First Class after 20 years in the Army as a Radar Maintenance Chief. He and Karen enjoyed membership in VFW 7873, American Legion 231 and Elks 238 Lakesite.
”Jake Da Snake” was a poet, artist, guitarist, motorcycle riding, fisherman and fixer of many things. Jake leaves his world of many friends and family a little dimmer.
Celebration of life services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211, with military honors.
Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson-Moore Funeral Home.

I first met Jake at our cabin at Lake Texoma. He was different than anyone I knew and I liked him immediately. We became good friends. Jake was a kind man with a warm heart. I guess that’s why I grew to love him. Kathy Batcha

Jake was a neighbor of ours by our Lake Texoma cabin and it was amazing to get to know him. He was always there to help, and always there to share an opinion. And sometimes a really funny story. What an amazing life and we loved it when we could hang out with Jake and play cards or down some cold ones. You were loved. Steve and Liz Wallin.
