Janet Louise Myers Kunkel, age 80, formerly of Manteno, Illinois, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at her daughter Deb Alicea’s home in Bells, Texas.
Janet was born September 12, 1944 in Blue Island, Illinois, the daughter of Gordon and Grace Myers.
Janet married James Kunkel on April 15, 1961 in Clinton, Iowa and were married until his passing on April 27, 2016.
Janet was a lifelong homemaker. She enjoyed time with family, especially grand & great grandchildren as well as crafting, bowling motorcycling and camping.
Surviving are her children James A. Kunkel of Houston, TX; three daughters, Alicea “Deb” Perez (Sam) of Bells, TX, Lisa Kunkel Laxton of Shorewood, Illinois, and Laura Kunkel Rightmire of Joliet, Illinois; two sisters, Sharen Eggert of Illinois, IdaMarie Labriola of Michigan and three brothers, Albert Myers of Indiana, Floyd Myers, and Terry Myers of Illinois, eleven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are her brothers-in-law, Thomas Kunkel, AJ Kunkel, Charles Kunkel, Kevin Kunkel, and sister-in-law Kathy Kleckner.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; parents; one son, Jason Kunkel; one brother Jerry Myers; one grandson, Michael; sisters-in-law Carolyn Thompson, Christine Hayes and Carol Kunkel.
Janet was the sweetest, kindest, most loving & giving person whose waves of love will ripple for many years.
Visitation to be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 from 12:00-1:00 at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Manteno. Funeral services will be held immediately after visitation at 1:00. Interment will follow at Skyline Memorial Park Cemetery in Monee, Illinois.

Officiating: Ted Brown of the First Assembly of God in Kankakee, Illinois.

Pallbearers: Charles Kunkel Sr., Terry Myers, Charles Thomas Kunkel Jr., Adam Laxton, Andrew Laxton, Richard Rightmire and Matt Myers.
