Pottsboro, Texas
Joe Henry Ochoa, 66, died at his residence in Pottsboro on Thursday, October 14, 2021. Joe was born on March 31, 1955 at March Air Force Base in Riverside, California, the son of Joe H. and Priscilla Jean (Wilson) Ochoa. He and Lynn Houston were married on August 20, 1980 in Kauai, Hawaii.
Joe was the epitome of resilience. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him will tell you that Joe truly loved to work. He took so much pride in whatever project he had going on and not doing it someone else’s way was his passion. He was self-taught and made a 40 year career in the oilfield as a directional driller offshore and abroad. Even having only 6 fingers he never turned down an opportunity to work, build, play, tinker, or create.
Just as his boys do, Joe loved nature, and being outdoors. When Joe loved, he loved hard. His friends were made for life. He worshiped his wife and was always reminding his boys of how proud he was of them. He loved taking his family out on the boat or just fishing and visiting at the dock. He was selfless. He was joyful when he would sit in his captain’s chair and just watch his family and friends play in the water and enjoy one another. Joe could never tell a joke but he would always laugh the hardest. He made everyone around him feel special. He loved making brownies for the employees on his rig locations and if he could get something for free, everyone was getting one.
He was the best grandpa a kid could ask for. He loved his grandkids and would play with them for hours and loved teaching them new things! Whether it was catching critters, tying knots, chasing the chickens, or skipping rocks he brought so much joy to them! He was thankful for all he had and enjoyed living his life. We bid farewell to this great, kind man.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Ochoa of Pottsboro; sons, Ryan Joseph Ochoa and his wife, Erica of East Hartford, Connecticut and Adam Scott Ochoa and his girlfriend, Kinsey George of Tuttle, Oklahoma; brother, Raymond Ochoa and his wife, Sandra of Twin Falls, Idaho and grandchildren, Alana Alexandra Ochoa, Devin Farnsworth and Conner Farnsworth.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; son, Alex and brother, Bill.
