Joe Wayne Holland, 72, died Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison.
Joe Wayne was born in Sayre, OK on March 28, 1945, the son of JC and Georgia Dea McGuffin Holland. He and Connie Ann Dodson were married on September 2, 1967 in Miami, TX. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1969-1971. He graduated from West Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree, coached football, basketball and track at Silverton, TX and Pampa, TX. He then worked at Celanese Chemicals in Pampa for 24 years before retiring in 2001. After retirement, he and Connie moved to Pottsboro, TX where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the First Christian Church.
Joe is survived by his wife, Connie Holland of Pottsboro; son, Jason Holland and his wife, Jamie of Argyle, TX; daughter, Jennifer Holland of Plano, TX; brother, Rex Holland of Happy, TX; granddaughter, Ashlee Larkin and husband Hap, and grandson, Jayden Holland.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Eddie Holland Cope and brother, Curtis Holland.
A memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Johnson-Moore Pottsboro Chapel with Elder Steve Porter officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made in Joe’s name to: Multiple Sclerosis Society, 2105 Luna Road, Suite 390, Carrollton, TX 75006.
Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson-Moore Funeral Home.
