Katrina Marie Shelby, born on September 1, 1978, in San Bernardino, California, passed away on August 12, 2024, at the age of 45. Katrina was the beloved daughter of John Nicholas Eberwine Jr. and Donreeann Freitag. She grew up in California and graduated from Fontana High School.
On February 10, 1999, she married the love of her life, Joe Shelby, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Together, they were residing in Pottsboro, Texas with their children, Brenden and Katelynn. Katrina was a dedicated lead clerk for the Collin County District Clerk’s Office, where she served for the past eight years with diligence and passion.
Katrina was known for her love of coffee, her voracious appetite for books, her enthusiasm for bowling, and her frequent visits to Hobby Lobby. She was a warm, caring soul who brought joy to those around her. She was deeply loved by many and will be missed more than words can express.
Katrina is survived by her devoted husband, Joe Shelby; her cherished children, Brenden and Katelynn Shelby; her loving mother, Donreeann Freitag; her sister, LaceAnn Copeland and husband Chris; her brother, Anthony Eberwine and wife Janet; and her nieces and nephews, Alicia Gentry and husband Dylan, Seattle Overcast and husband Garrett, Gavin Eberwine, and Kyle and Avery Salzwedel. She was preceded in death by her father, John Eberwine Jr., and her grandparents.
A celebration of Katrina’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Denison, located at 601 W Woodard Street, Denison, Texas 75020. A visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Following the service, a committal service will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Denison, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making memorial contributions to adoption agencies and organizations that support adoptive families.
Katrina’s spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be remembered for her kindness, her love for her family, and her unwavering strength.
