DENISON
Larry Taylor Jacobs, 73, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017, at his home peacefully in his sleep.
He was born in Pottsboro, TX on January 24, 1943 to Alton V. and Clariabel (Massie) Jacobs. He received High School Achievement in 1961. On June 19, 1965, Larry married Vera Marie Haas, in Durant, OK. After bringing two beautiful girls into this world, he lost the love of his life to cancer in 1980. Their daughters are happy to finally have their parents reunited in heaven. He entered into the Army in 1962 and was RA AMEDS, exiting in 1968. After 25 years of service with the City of Denison Fire Department, and many continuing education classes for paramedic and firefighting, he retired in 1998. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ in Denison. Larry was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him.
Services for Mr. Jacobs will be held Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Fairview Cemetery Chapel. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 6:00-8:00 PM at the Johnson-Moore Funeral Home in Denison.
Larry is survived by his father, Alton V. Jacobs of Denison; daughters Amy Marie Champion and husband Brandon of Frisco, TX and Jaime Beth Grider and husband Benjamin of Highland Village, TX; sisters Laurel Nicewander and husband Alan of Denison and Marjorie Ellen Atterbury of Bonham; sister-in-law Jodie Saxon Jacobs of Mansfield, TX; grandchildren Vera Grider, Simon Grider and Noah Champion; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
He was also survived by two brothers-in-law, Leon Haas and wife Anada of Cartwright, OK and Robert Haas and wife Barbara of Denison, TX.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Vera Marie Haas Jacobs; mother Clariabel Jacobs; two brothers, Andrew V. Jacobs and Jesse Floyd Jacobs; nephew Gary Glenn Shields; in-laws Morris and Victoria Claiborne; and multiple aunts and uncles and two brothers-in-law.
The family would like to extend appreiciation to the Denison Fire Department for their contributions and support in honoring our father this day.
