Laura Morgan

August 15, 1936 - December 4, 2022

Laura Ann Morgan of Pottsboro, Texas, passed away on December 4, 2022, at the age of 86. She was born August 15, 1936, to Willard Lee Craghead and Gertrude Sparks, in Chambersville, TX.

Laura Grew up in northeast Texas and graduated from McKinney Boyd High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Vernon Joe Morgan, of McKinney, TX, on July 20, 1953, in McKinney. She gave birth to their 1st born child, in 1954, followed by a daughter in 1957 and another in 1973.

In the 1960’s, she was the Executive Secretary for Dallas Love Field. Throughout Vernon’s employment with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., they lived in various locations across the states, from Michigan to Memphis, Tennessee. Because of her love of our Heavenly Father and her friends through the church, she served as a Eucharistic Minister for the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Memphis, TN. She was a child activist and an animal activist. She played the piano and she also loved to sew.

Laura was a good soul and extremely devoted to her family. She will always be loved and missed by them and the many others she crossed paths with throughout her life.

Laura is survived by her daughters, Sandra Boring, of Lancaster, TX and Rhonda Kay of Pottsboro, TX; grandchildren, Dustin Luke Kay, Laura Marguerite Buendtner and Gary Lee Boring; great grandchildren, Layla, Katarina, Ezekial, Zephaniah, Audrey, Taylor, Madisyn, London, Bronson, Cohen and Landri and a multitude of great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Joe Morgan; daughter, Heather Christina Jones; and brother, Carroll Craghead.

A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M., Friday, December 9, 2022 at Johnson-Moore Pottsboro Chapel, 511 W. Hwy 120, Pottsboro Texas 75076. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, December 8, 2022 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Pottsboro Chapel. Following the service, a procession will make its way to Georgetown Cemetery, 539 Cemetery Road, Pottsboro Texas for a committal service.
