Paul Smith, 78, of Denison passed away at his residence on Friday, October 23, 2015.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Waples Memorial United Methodist Church with Reverend Cheryl Murphy officiating.
Paul was born on January 1, 1937 in Rochester, New York, the son of Ivan Hamilton and Maetta Mounts Smith. Paul was educated at Denison High School, Southeastern State University, and East Texas State (now Texas A&M Commerce) receiving his Master’s degree in Education.
He and Sherry June Randall were married in October of 1970 at Highland Park UMC, Dallas. She preceded him in death in 2011. Paul worked as an administrator for defense contracts, was a member of First United Methodist Church of Kemp, TX and was a Mason.
He is survived by his sons, Leland (Lee) Paul Smith II and his wife, Kerry of Dallas and Joe Randall (Randy) Barnett of Dallas; brother, Tom Smith of Denison; sisters, Alice Schick, Jane Dees both of Denison and Sally Smith of Dallas and 5 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church Kemp, PO Box 327, Kemp, TX 75143.
Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson-Moore Funeral Home.
