Linda Kay Martin

March 26, 1945 - January 1, 2025

Linda Kay (Detrick) Martin, a spirited woman with a love for family, football, and her Oklahoma roots, passed away peacefully in her home in Denison, Texas, on January 1, 2025. She was 79 years old.

Born on March 26, 1945, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, Linda was the daughter of Jesse Elmer Detrick and Vina Mandy Abney, both of whom preceded her in death. A graduate of Tecumseh High School’s Class of 1963, Linda carried her small-town values and simple faith throughout her life.

Linda had a strong work ethic, having worked at the Blue Bell factory in Seminole, Oklahoma, and later devoted 30 years of her career as a machine operator for Wolverine Tube, Inc. in Shawnee, Oklahoma, until her retirement in 2006. Her dedication earned her many production awards throughout her career.

Linda was married twice, first to Edward Allen Brewer and later to Otis Carl Martin. Though her marriages ended in divorce, her most cherished role in life was as a mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Boris, and son-in-law, Paul Boris, of Frisco, Texas; and her five grandchildren—Paul N., Andrew, Kristen, Rachel, and Michael Boris—whom she adored and found immense joy in their accomplishments.

Linda was preceded in death by her siblings, J.D. Detrick, Ann Rushing, Sherry Campbell, Charlotte Stevens, and Jeanie Detrick. She missed them greatly and is now happily reunited with them.

Linda was a devoted fan of football, particularly cheering for the University of Oklahoma Sooners with unwavering enthusiasm. Her weekends in the fall often revolved around game days. She also spent her time reading books, gossiping with the neighbors, tending to her yard, battling the acorns and leaves from her trees, and caring for her rose bushes.

Linda wished to be cremated. A graveside service and celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, at Fairview Cemetery in Shawnee, Oklahoma, where Linda will be laid to rest alongside her family.
