Lois Elaine Stagner, a devoted wife, cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, loving teacher, and serial entrepreneur, peacefully passed away on April 12, 2024, in Oak Island, North Carolina, surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 22, 1936, in Pottsboro, Texas, Elaine was the daughter of Ernest and Mozelle (Dalton) Waldrop.
Elaine was known for engaging people in a way that made them feel like they were the most special person on Earth. She made strangers feel like friends and friends feel like family. She was caring, generous, and kind whether helping teach children with special needs or ensuring that children of poverty in Appalachia were getting the assistance they needed, or helping make sure customers were getting their machine parts on time while working with her husband in their own company.
She is survived by her loving husband, Wayne Stagner of Oak Island, NC, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories and joys. Elaine leaves behind two children, Bart Stagner and spouse Marcos Lima of Desert Hot Springs, CA, and Cindy Flowers and spouse John of Oak Island, NC. Her legacy of love and kindness lives on through her two grandchildren, Jay Flowers and partner Megan Kruse, and Jesse Flowers and spouse Shari, as well as her three great-grandchildren, Ian, Yuki, and Jack Flowers.
In addition to her immediate family, Elaine is also survived by her sister, Betty Fulenchek, and husband Dale, and numerous adoring nieces and nephews, all of whom she held dear to her heart.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate Elaine’s remarkable life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Georgetown Cemetery in Pottsboro, Texas. As we gather to pay our final respects, let us remember Elaine for her unwavering love, kindness, and dedication to making the world a better place through love, caring, and compassion. Her spirit will forever inspire and guide us.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MichaelJFox.org) in memory of Lois Elaine Stagner. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing she made a profound difference in the lives of many.
