DENISON
Marlene Louise Parnell, 77, of Denison, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at her home. She was born May 13, 1939 in Coeur-D’Alene, ID to Marvin Oliver Amell and Ethel Marie Prosser Amell.
She attended school in Coeur-D’Alene, ID. Marlene moved to Las Vegas, NV where she was introduced to and soon after married Edwin L. Parnell on August 19, 1954.
Marlene was a housewife, raising her and Edwin’s three children. She also was the CFO of her husband’s business, Ed’s Spraying Service. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Denison, a member of the American Legion Lakesite Post 231, and a member of Gate City Chapter 77, Order of the Eastern Star.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Denison, TX. Chaplain Mike Hermanson will officiate.
Marlene is survived by her companion, Gary Johnson of Pottsboro, TX; son, Rick Parnell of Denison, TX; five grandchildren, Sam Masters, Kristi Parnell, Jessica House, Phoebe Seber and Olivia Parnell; 17 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Linda Seitz of Anchorage, AK and Terri Gessner of Coeur-D’Alene, ID. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ed, in 2009; daughter, Pam Parnell; son, Kenny Parnell and sister, Betty Jean Olafson.
