Martha Belle Copeland, 73, died Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at her residence in Pottsboro with her family by her side.
Family visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Johnson -Moore Pottsboro Chapel. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 12, 2014 at Johnson-Moore Pottsboro Chapel with Reverend Bobby Hancock officiating. There will be a private burial in Georgetown Cemetery following the service.
Serving as her pallbearers will be Don Chapman, Justin Copeland, Dick Busick, Clay Copeland, Josh Bell, and Cody Copeland.
Martha was born in Guthrie, Oklahoma on October 24, 1941 to Jack and Dessie Jackson Griffin.
She graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University with her teaching degree. Martha married Don Copeland in Edmond, Oklahoma on September 2, 1960. She was of the Methodist faith and was a member of the Elks Lakesite Lodge. She and Don loved to travel all over the United States. She was always knitting and knitted all kinds of things for the family.
Martha is survived by her husband of 54 years, Don Copeland; sons, Mike Copeland and his wife, Angela and Jim Copeland and his wife, Shellee; daughters, Debi Atkins and her husband, Steve and Michelle Bell and her husband, Steve all of Pottsboro; brother, Roy Griffin of Sherman; sisters, Kathryn Arning of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jackie Mathews of Madill, Oklahoma and Mary Winters of Yukon, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family suggests memorials in Martha’s name to the American Cancer Association, 8900 Carpenter Freeway, Dallas, TX 75247.
Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson-Moore Funeral Home.
