Mary Frances Pearson Cassell was called home to Heaven Thursday, March 3, 2016. She died peacefully in the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Pottsboro.
Family visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Johnson-Moore Pottsboro Chapel.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Pottsboro with Brother Josh Burton and Brother Phil Barton officiating. Burial will follow at Georgetown Cemetery. Serving as her pallbearers will be, David Beall, Jim White, Kevin Duckworth, Mark Lewis, Matt Moser and Troy LaRoache.
Mary was born in Willow Springs Community on August 13, 1926, the daughter of John and Julia Gudgel Pearson, Sr. She was a 1944 graduate of Denison High School. Mary and Jack Cassell were married on December 21, 1946 in Denison. He preceded her in death on March 14, 2008. Mrs. Cassell worked at Levi Strauss, was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Pottsboro. She loved to crochet.
Mrs. Cassell is survived by her sons, Larry Cassell and his wife, Deborah of Lone Oak, Texas and David Cassell and his wife, Carol of Pottsboro; daughters, Jo Ann Towery and her husband, Bill of Pottsboro and Thelma Dagenais and her husband, Michael of Fairview, Texas; brothers, John Pearson, Jr. and his wife, Lorene and J.C. Pearson and his wife, Judy all of Pottsboro; sister, Sue Hughs of Gainesville, Texas; grandchildren, Kelly Beall, Mark Towery, Mari Ann Lewis, Matt Moser, Casey Cassell and Justin Cassell; great granddaughter, Mallory Towery; numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Cassell; three brothers, James, Lynn and Glen Pearson; sister, Patsy Cassell and granddaughter, Beth Renee Towery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to: First Baptist Church of Pottsboro, 400 Houston, Pottsboro, TX 75076 or Guardian Hospice, 614 N. Travis, Sherman, TX 75090.
