Mary Margaret Short, lifelong resident of the Willow Springs Community, passed away on December 20, 2022, at the age of 90. She was born September 13, 1932, to James Owen Daugherty and Cleo Farmer. She was educated in Willow Springs schools and graduated from Denison High School in 1949. Margaret married Leon Short on September 28, 1951, in Denison, TX.
She was a member of the Willow Springs and Pottsboro Churches of Christ, spending most of her years attending Willow Springs. She had a keen recollection of the people and places of the Willow Springs and surrounding communities.
She is survived by sons, Stephen Short and wife Brenda of Burneyville, Oklahoma and Tim Short of Pottsboro, TX; daughters, Annette Shely and husband Jack of San Angelo, TX and Jennifer Sweet and husband David of Denison, TX; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sister Lou Witt of Sherman, TX and brother Robert Daugherty (Debbie) of Granbury, TX.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Leon, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage.
A funeral service will be held at 2 P.M., Monday, December 26, 2022 at Johnson-Moore Pottsboro Chapel, 511 W. Hwy 120, Pottsboro Texas 75076. The family will receive visitors beginning at 1 P.M. prior to the service. Following the service, a procession will make its way to Georgetown Cemetery, 539 Cemetery Road, Pottsboro Texas for a committal service.
