Mike Mannery

Mike Mearl Mannery, formerly of Denison, Texas, passed away on June 21, 2023, at the age of 76. He was born on January 7, 1947, in Denison, Texas to Peter Lisha and Viola F (Hix) Mannery.

Mike was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He married the love of his life, Sandy Anderson, on June 23, 1957, at his parents’ house in Denison, Texas. At only 17 years old, he faithfully served in the United States Marine Corps where he was a rifle expert. Mike was employed by the Sherman Fire Department for 32 years, retiring as Lieutenant. While serving as a firefighter, he also volunteered for the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office. In his free time, he loved to fish and spend time with his family. Mike will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy Mannery; two sons, Michael Mannery and wife Kristie of Nevada, Texas and Peter Mannery of Mena, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Gracie and Macie Mannery.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Casey Mannery; twin brother, Ike Mannery; and sister, Shirley Stewart.

A funeral service will be held at 12 P.M., Saturday, June 24, 2023, at the Fairview Cemetery Chapel, 1501 TX-91, Denison, Texas 75020. Family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday, June 23, 2023, from 5 to 7 PM at Johnson-Moore Funeral Home, 631 W Woodard Street, Denison, Texas 75020.

    Apparently I had a crush on my uncle Mike when I was a kid and would tell my Aunt Sandra I was going to marry him when I was old enough. He was such a great man! Love you Aunt Sandra.

    I remember when my Mother, Pearleana would be in the kitchen with Sandy talking and Mike and I would tell me awesome stories about objects in his collection, he made me fall in love with history. He will be missed by so many.
