Patsy Louise “Pat” Anderson, aged 91, passed away peacefully in her sleep June 6, 2022 at Cedar Hollow Rehabilitation Center in Sherman, Texas, surrounded by her children.
Pat was born September 3, 1930 in Denison, Texas to Jack and Rubye Durham. She was the oldest daughter of 6 children and grew up in a house filled with love and laughter. Jack and Rubye ran a hamburger cafe, assisted by their daughters, which became a Denison favorite and a fond memory for thousands of school children over the years. She met the love of her life, our father Ken “Andy” Anderson, a handsome young airman stationed at Perrin Field, at Curly’s Skating Rink on Main Street in downtown Denison. After a whirlwind courtship of only two weeks, they married and embarked on a lifelong adventure, which included travel with the US Air Force, which lasted 58 years until his death in 2008 from Alzheimer’s.
Pat is survived by her loving children, daughters, Karen Freeborn of Garland and Cindy Manchev of Denison and son, Ken Anderson, Jr, of McKinney. Also 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was the best Mom, Grandma, Lala and GiGi who loved her babies and was adored by them as well. She is also survived by her brother, Jack Durham, of Ft Worth; her baby sister, Kaye Nichols of Knoxville, TN, and loving nieces and nephews. Our father; her parents; her brother, Jimmy Durham, and sisters, Joann Leake and Rheaetta Ailey preceded her in passing.
No services are planned per our mother’s wishes and in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, UT Southwestern Medical Center, Alzheimer’s Disease Research, P.O. Box 910888, Dallas, TX 75391-0888 in her memory. Her ashes will be laid next to our father at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Grand Prairie, TX.
