Worked for Preston wen I was a kid. Lee and I were buddies and I spent many nights at their home and they became my second family. Preston was a good man and an Honorable man. Don’t remember him saying ill of anyone but he could laugh and carry on with the best of them. Our parents were friends. He had a unique way of keeping the home fire going. He would put the log in and push it forward as needed, saved a lot of wasted effort. He called me ‘one of his boys’

My first memory of PRESTON was in the 1970’s when I was traveling Hagerman Road looking for a place to dove hunt. He was happy to talk to me and let me hunt on one of his pastures. Many years later my wife and I moved to Pottsboro and joined Hagerman Church where I met PRESTON, who was a deacon, again. He was a man of God, no question about it. Never spoke a bad word about anyone but willing to help everyone. PRESTON was eager to teach me about raising cattle when I bought my farm. He loved his cattle and the ranching life and he loved his family. I know he will be seated close to God waiting for his Thelma. I hope he has cattle to tend in Heaven. Danny Smith
