Randall "Randy" Walsh

September 21, 1967 - November 25, 2024

Randall “Randy” Matthew Walsh, aged 57, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024, surrounded by family in Denison, Texas, after a brief but brave battle with cancer. Born on September 21, 1967, in Marshall, Texas, to Richard “Mack” and Emma “Jeannie” (Hortman) Walsh, Randy’s journey through life took him across Austin, Houston, San Antonio, the DFW area, Arkansas, Greenville, and finally back to North Texas, where he cherished his time living with his son Kyle in his last years.

Randy’s kind heart and compassionate spirit left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His love for fishing and his passion for watching the Kansas City Chiefs and Longhorns football games brought him immense joy. His deep affection for his dogs over the years, Grover and Chrissy, was another source of joy.  They were more than pets; they were his loyal companions.

Randy had a remarkable gift for making a difference in people’s lives.  One way this gift was manifested was through his service as a volunteer with TDCJ prison ministry where he served as a mentor/minister to inmates at the Polanski Unit in Livingston, Texas.  He also served in Central Texas Tres Dias, a Christian ministry that revitalizes men and women in their walk with Christ.  His generosity also extended to his kitchen, where he delighted family and friends with his famous mac and cheese, chocolate & coconut pie, enchiladas and sloppy joes.

His family was the center of his universe. Randy shared his interest in history with his son Riley, sparking many conversations about their favorite WWII plane, the Vought F4U Corsair. With Kyle, he enjoyed countless fishing trips, while with Kaitlyn (his “baby girl”), he shared a deep love for a variety of music. His love for Star Wars was just another facet of his rich and varied life.

Randy is survived by his three children, Kaitlyn Borchardt and her husband Trent of Leonard, Texas; Kyle Walsh of Denison, Texas; and Riley Walsh of McKinney, Texas. He also leaves behind his father, Mack Walsh Sr. of Marshall, Texas; his siblings, Rick Walsh and his wife Terri of Marshall, Texas, and Rachelle Daniel and her husband Michael of Pflugerville, Texas, along with numerous close friends and extended family (people as well as pets) who will deeply miss him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Jeannie Walsh. Randy’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

A celebration of Randy’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. The service will also be live streamed and can be viewed at the following link: https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/randy-walsh

There will also be a Coming Home Memorial Service for Randy at 1pm December 8, 2024, at Friendship Baptist Church, 1140 FM 1186, Marshall, Texas 75672.  Followed by Interment at Gill Cemetery – Marshall Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the American Liver Foundation (liverfoundation.org) or your own favorite charity.
