Robert K. “Bob” Whaley, Sr., 63, went home to his Lord and Savior at his residence in Princeton, Sunday, August 19, 2012.
Mr. Whaley will be cremated after the visitation for the memorial graveside service.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 22, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at Johnson-Moore Pottsboro Chapel.
Graveside memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 27, 2012 at Georgetown Cemetery. Reverend Bobby Hancock will offiicate. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard.
Bob was born the son of E.C. and Martha Spears Whaley on December 29, 1948 in Denison, Texas. He attended Denison High School and then graduated from Pottsboro High School.
He joined the Navy serving his country in Vietnam. Bob was injured while serving and was honorably discharged.
He returned to Pottsboro and, while working for Reed Drill, he met and married Karen Pierson. Together they started their family in Pottsboro then later moved to Garland, Texas and retired in Princeton, Texas. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was of the Baptist faith. Bob loved to fish and hunt, but what he loved the most were his kids and grandkids.
He is survived by his sons, Dennis Whaley and his wife, Dee Dee and Robert Whaley, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer; daughter, Kimberly Mcguffin and her husband, David all of Princeton; brother, Steve Whaley of Pottsboro; five grandchildren, Alison, Clinton and Conner Whaley and Alyssa and Charles Mcguffin and Karen Whaley Smith, the mother of his children.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Colton Whaley.
