Ron K. Hunter 71, died Thursday, February 22, 2018 at his residence in Pottsboro.
Ron was born the son of Thomas Jackson and Tina Martin Hunter on October 10, 1946 in McKinney, TX. He graduated from Van Alstyne High School and got his Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from North Texas State University. Ron and Floyce Ward were married in Lewisville, TX on January 2, 1967. He worked for IBM and then started his own business servicing typewriters and he did that for 20 years. Ron proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. Ron was a very compassionate man and was a member of the Masonic Lodges in Howe and Van Alstyne, the Shriners and Scottish Rite and the Sherman VFW Post. He loved to ride his Harley, golf, fish and spend time with his family.
Visitation will be Friday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Pottsboro Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Pottsboro Church of Christ with Brother Bob Sholl and Thomas J. Hunter officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Masonic graveside services will be conducted by Keith Patterson and Thomas J. Hunter. Military graveside services will be conducted by the United States Marine Corp. Honor Guard. If you are a veteran, and would like to, please wear your uniform or hat.
Serving as his pallbearers will be: Rustyn Sample, Jason Coyle, David Vincent, Mason Inman, Eric Santjer and Danny Smitherman. Honorary pallbearers will be: Jerry W. Stephens, Dewight Howard, Jerry Kirby and Layton Hunter.
Ron is survived by his wife, Floyce W. Hunter of Pottsboro; son, Thomas J. Hunter and his wife, Kelli of Tioga; daughter, Audra Inman and her husband, Chris of Pottsboro; grandchildren, Kristina Sample and husband, Rustyn of Pottsboro, Layton Hunter and Mason Inman and great-grandchildren, Kylelyn Sample, Tristyn Sample and Audry Sample.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Ron’s name be made to: Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, P.O. Box 190567, Dallas, TX 75219-0567.
Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson-Moore Funeral Home.
