Ron Marlow

December 22, 1945 - October 12, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Eugene Marlow, a beloved brother, uncle, and friend, who departed this life on October 12, 2024, at the age of 78.

Born in Denison, Texas, on December 22, 1945, Ronald was the son of Ward Eugene Marlow and Mary Ellen Marlow (Jennings). He graduated from Denison High school in 1964. He was a member of the Denison’s Stage Band as well as Band Manager, playing the Sousaphone. He proudly served in the Navy where he was stationed at Hunter’s Point Naval Shipyard, San Francisco, California and served in the Vietnam War, demonstrating a deep commitment to his country. Ron served as a Hospital Corpsman Third Class (HM3). His commendations include the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with one bronze star. After his service, he worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone on switchboards handling long distance interconnects. He then dedicated nearly 34 years of his life to the healthcare industry before retiring as a medical customer service representative at TrailBlazer in Denison Texas and was an integral part of the Interactive Voice Response Team that formulated an automated speech to text platform working hand in hand with the President of TrailBlazer. He touched many lives and formed many friendships along the way.

Ronald was well-known and well-liked throughout his community. He was a volunteer firefighter for Dension, a Police dispatcher for Sherman, had a passion for trains and enjoyed dabbling in police scanners and communications. A big supporter of the Denison Fire Department, he was always ready to lend a hand and offer his encouragement. Ron also had a love for football and you would always find him cheering on the Denison Yellow Jackets on Friday nights, UT Longhorns on Saturdays and the Dallas Cowboys on Sundays! He also attended many of his great-nephew Caden’s sporting events and even when he couldn’t he was still always supportive and encouraging.

Ronald is survived by his brother, Mike Marlow of Denison, Texas ; his niece, Brandi Rodriguez and her husband, Gilbert; great-nephew, Caden Vasko; and numerous cousins who cherished him dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents Ward and Mary Marlow.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2024, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Johnson-Moore Funeral Home in Denison, Texas. A graveside service will follow on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 11:00am at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, Texas.

Ronald’s warmth, kindness, and spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.

Ron’s dad Ward and my late husband Jim’s dad James Fuchs were cousins. We spent time with both of them at each other’s house after I married into the family. Ward and Mary always kept tabs on us, and Ron continued that kindness.
Ron died just a month after Jim did, so I want to think they are hanging out together while watching over us.
My condolences to Mike and Brandi on the loss of this good man.

Ron- will be missed by many that knew him. I worked with him in Denison at BlueCross BlueShield of Texas, Medicare. What started on Morton st, moved to Morton Plaza, later to “old”Gibson Bldg on Armstrong… Ron was always smiling when came through the doors and made sure everyone he worked with had a up- beat and productive day. He sure could make you feel appreciated and brighten up the room.
My condolences to his family, sorry for your loss. Prayers for peace and comfort during this time of grief. 🙏
