It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Russell Wade George, born on August 5, 1968, in Dallas, TX, to James George and Patricia Gregg (Toney). He passed away on June 29, 2024.
Russell attended South Garland High School and was an avid sports fan, enjoying both watching and playing sports. He played baseball, football, soccer, and basketball. His favorite sport was basketball. He began playing basketball at 9 years old and was on the winning team for the Little Dribbler’s national tournament. He continued playing basketball until he graduated high school where he was the point guard for South Garland High School, the number 1 ranked team his senior year. Russell also enjoyed soccer and played Select Soccer while in high school. As an adult, he coached his son in both Recreational and Select Soccer. In addition to sports, Russell loved boating and fishing.
After graduating high school, Russell worked at various sales positions and managed a marina at Lake Texoma.
Russell was very proud of his Chickasaw/Choctaw heritage and was a citizen of the Chickasaw Nation.
He is survived by his mother, Pat Gregg of Pottsboro, TX; son, Brendin George and wife Taylor George of Waxahachie, TX; daughter, Hannah George of Sherman, TX; daughter, Stephanie Kelsall of Montgomery, TX; brother, Brian Perry George of Ada, OK; and niece, Allie Perry of Ada, OK.
He was preceded in death by his father, James George; maternal grandparents, Norvin and Thelma Toney; and paternal grandparents Homer and Rena George.
A visitation will be held at 12 PM Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024, at the Johnson-Moore Pottsboro Chapel 511 FM 120, Pottsboro, TX 75076.
A service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024, at the Johnson-Moore Pottsboro Chapel 511 FM 120, Pottsboro, TX 75076.
Interment at Georgetown Cemetery in Pottsboro, TX. will immediately follow the service.
