Born on May 1, 1961, Sammie was the daughter of Sammy Joe Dickerson and Doris Janell Dickerson, and she was the sister of Connie Dunn, Larry, Gary, and Wayne Dickerson. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Gregory Martin; son, Michael Dickerson; and her dear siblings in eternal peace.
Sammie’s professional journey began at Goldman Sachs, where she worked as an accountant for many years. After her career in finance, she ventured into entrepreneurship, opening her own restaurant, “Sammie’s Kitchen by the Lake.” It quickly became a beloved local establishment, known for its delicious cuisine and warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Sammie was not only a successful businesswoman, but also a dedicated community member. She was an active and passionate member of the Elks Lodge and the American Legion. Her commitment to these organizations allowed her to make a positive impact on the lives of many, as she cooked for and supported their various events and activities.
Sammie had a zest for life and a deep appreciation for the joys of the outdoors. She was a true lover of the lake life, finding solace and happiness in boating and swimming. She enjoyed the thrill of competition, regularly engaging in darts and the occasional visit to the casino, where she reveled in the excitement of the games.
Above all, Sammie’s heart was filled with love for her family, especially her cherished grandchildren, Preston Harris and Madelynn Harris, as well as her daughter, Kristina Harris, all hailing from Wylie, Texas. Sammie also loved spending time with her nieces and nephews whenever possible. She took immense delight in spending quality time with all her family members, creating cherished memories and leaving an indelible mark on their lives.
Sammie Gail Martin touched the lives of many with her kindness, generosity, and joyful spirit. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her. She leaves a legacy of love, dedication, and the importance of cherishing life’s simple pleasures.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Johnson-Moore Pottsboro Chapel, 511 FM 120, Pottsboro, Texas 75076. A committal ceremony will take place at 1:00 PM, November 2, 2023, at Ridgeview West Memorial Park, 7800 Sanctuary Dr., Frisco, Texas 75033. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at Johnson-Moore Pottsboro Chapel.
