Funeral services for Syble Theone Yost will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Johnson-Moore Pottsboro Chapel. Officiating will be Reverend Julie Halstead, Reverend Christopher Yost and Reverend Kadi Creel.
Mrs. Yost died at her home in Sherman, Texas on Saturday, July 21, 2012, surrounded by her loved ones and hospice care after a brief battle with cancer. She was 80.
Visitation with the family will be held Monday from 6-7 p.m. at the Pottsboro Chapel.
Syble was born July 13, 1932 in Wylie, Texas to Alwin and Opal Creel. Faithfull daughter and beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. After serving her country in the Women’s Army Corps during the Korean conflict, she attended school and graduated from St. Paul’s School of Nursing in Dallas, Texas. She retired from Medical Plaza Hospital in Sherman in 1993.
Mrs. Yost was active in the lifes of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as her church life and community activities. She had been a member of Lakeway United Methodist Church in Pottsboro and was a member of Princeton United Methodist Church. She was a founding member of the Locust Volunteer Fire Department, organizing many fish fry events and garage sales to support their endeavors.
Mrs. Yost was an endowed member of Gate City Chapter #77 Order of the Eastern Star and a duel member with Princeton Chapter #1126 Order of the Eastern Star. She served as Worthy Matron in both chapters. She served at the state level as Grand Organist. She also served as personal and traveling secretary to the Worthy Grand Matron of the State of Texas.
She is survived by her sons, Robert Gerald Yost of Pottsboro and Robert Patton Yost of Sherman; grandchildren, Christopher Yost of Little Elm, Jennifer Yost Lyons of Pottsboro, Hank Yost, Lainey Yost and Nathan Yost of Tyler; great-grandchildren, Patton, Cooper and Titus Lyons of Pottsboro, Emma, Caleb and Heidi Yost of Little Elm; brother, Charles Creel of Duncanville; many beloved nieces and nephews; and her best friend and traveling buddy, Joyce Gilbert of Princeton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mary Ann Sullivan.
Interment will follow the service in Georgetown Cemetery with military honors presented by the Fort Hood Honor Guard and final rites by the Gate City Chapter #77 Order of the Eastern Star.
Memorials may be made to Home Hospice of Grayson County in her honor.
