Pottsboro – Technical Sergeant Walter E. Chambers, USAFR Retired, 75, passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Texoma Medical Center.
Services with full military honors conducted by Sheppard Air Force Honor Guard and Masonic Rites presented by The Colony Masonic Lodge #1451 will be at 4:00 p.m. Friday, August 31, 2012 at Johnson-Moore Funeral Home in Denison. Reverend Joshua Burton will officiate.
Walter was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on August 27, 1936, the son of Walter Henry and Irma Grace Watson Chambers. He was a graduate of Snyder High School in Jersey City and attended Farley Dickson College in New Jersey. He married Lois A. Young on August 20, 1960 in Jersey City, New Jersey. They just celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. He served his country for 35 years in the United States Air Force and the Air National Guard of Texas for 10 years. He worked for Globe Security for several years. He drove a school bus for Dallas and Pottsboro school districts and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pottsboro. Mr. Chambers was a member of The Colony Masonic Lodge #1451.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lois Chambers of Pottsboro; son, David J. Chambers of Pottsboro; daughter, Janet R. Andrews and her husband, Brian P. of Pottsboro; grandson, Christopher J. Andrews; granddaughter, Kathleen M. Littrell and her husband, George; great-granddaughter, Abby Littrell and great-grandson, Shane Littrell all of Pottsboro.
