William Jasper White

POTTSBORO
William J. White, 69, died Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Baylor Hospital of Plano. He was born March 22, 1948 in Logansport, LA to Joseph Herman and Beulah Mae (Harris) White. He served in the United States Air Force in Vietnam. He retired from the Sherman Police Department after 26 years of service. William was of the Baptist faith and a lifetime member of VFW Post #7873, American Legion Post #231 and Elks Lodge #238 in Pottsboro.
Services will be held Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the VFW in Pottsboro.
William is survived by his wife, Sonia Hicks White of Pottsboro; son, Joseph White and wife, Kristen of McKinney, TX; daughter, Julie Holding and husband, Aaron of Overton, TX and two grandchildren, Olivia Holding and Ophelia Holding of Overton, TX.
Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson-Moore Funeral Home. Condolences may be registered to www.johnsonmoorefuneralhome.net.

    Bill and I attended Haughton H.S., in Haughton, La. We both played Football and participated in Track and Field. I graduated one year ahead of Bill, wound up in the USAF, stationed at Grand Forks AFB, ND. I was loading our truck for dispatch to one of the missile sites. I felt a tap on my shoulder, turned around, and it was my “bud” Bill. Had a great reunion 1200 mi. from Haughton! He was our security escort that day, and for a number of trips afterward. I lost track of him when he shipped out to Viet Nam. I just got on Facebook in December of last year after losing my wife in November. We had talked about getting together this year, but life took a terrible turn. My sincere heartfelt condolences go out to you, his family and friends. I just know that he is smiling down upon us all, and feels no pain or suffering. Life is so short, and we will all soon be together for eternity. I am honored to be able to call Bill my friend.     To Bill’s family. I am so sorry for your loss. We lived across the street from Bill’s family while in high school at Haughton High. Bill was a very nice, friendly guy. He and Mike Wimberly, my next door neighbor, would come over and visit occasionally. They were fun to be around even though my sister and I were several years younger. Rest In Peace Bill.
