Bertie Garrett, 87, passed away Saturday; November 8, 2008 at the Homestead of Denison.
Funeral services will be Tuesday; November 11 at 11:00 A.M. at the Johnson-Moore Chapel in Denison with Rev. Earl Oglesbee officiating.
Interment will be in Rosewood Cemetery in Achille, Oklahoma.
Bertie was born April 23, 1921 in Milburn, Oklahoma to Bill and Grace Willis Bowles. She attended school in Achille and married Durward Garrett on
August 26, 1943 in Durant, OK. He died January 30, 1973.
Mrs. Garrett was a homemaker and a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and was an expert seamstress and quilt maker.
Pallbearers will be her grandson and great-grandsons.
Surviving are her son, Wetsel (Wes) Garrett of Muskogee, Ok.; daughters, Tjuana Brown (T.J.) and husband Jim of Sherman; Tanis McAlester of Denison; Rhonda Stonebarger of Colbert, Ok.; Wilthia Henson and husband Darold of Denison; and Dureata Poth and husband Chip of Canton, Georgia.
Also surviving are her brothers, Nelson Bowles of Colbert and Dan Graves of Holland, TX.; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson Randy Hargrove, and two brothers.
The family suggests memorials to Emmanuel Baptist Church, West Bond at Juanita Dr., Denison, TX 75020.
